Frederick Johnsen
Pastor

A former Army Chaplain, Pastor Frederick has been part of Zion’s family since 2017. He is excited to see the Church growing in love for God and for each other, and sharing that love with the whole world. A strong man of integrity, he is not afraid to roll up his sleeves or to speak the truth.

Frederick is a man of many passion. He loves to travel, to cook and bake (you need to try his communion bread!), enjoys woodworking, playing the guitar, spending time in the great outdoors, and riding his Harley – or his lawn mower – while listening to George Strait. Above all, he loves date nights with his number one fan, his lovely wife Marie. Together they live with Annie and Silas, their canine BFFs. One of his favorite hymns is Because He Lives.

Favorite Verse:
“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?” Matthew 6:25

Mary Biller
Council President

At the helm of our elders and church council is Mary, a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church. She is hardworking, conscientious and dedicated. She dreams of growth for our congregation she serves tirelessly. She enjoys spending time with her grown-up children Brian and Melissa, and the rest of her family and, when she has free time, she expresses her creativity by working on quilting and scrapbooking projects. Her favorite hymn is The Old Rugged Cross.

Favorite Verse:
“All flesh is like grass, and all its glory like the flowers of the field; the grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of the Lord stands forever.” 1 Peter 1:24-25

Meg Zupan
Church Administrator

If you ever stopped at the church during the week or called us in the last 20 some years, there is a good chance you were welcomed by Meg, our caring church administrator. She keeps the fort while Pastor is out and about, and makes sure everything runs smoothly in the office. When asked about what she enjoys the most about her job with Zion, she answered “I am shocked at the way I have seen God working here – people being healed, good things happening, finding jobs. It just seems like when someone comes here and prays for something it works!”

Meg and husband David are the happy parents to grown-up kids Dan, Sarah, and Joe. She loves to read, crochet, and enjoys playing around with her two dogs. Her favorite hymn is What a Friend We Have in Jesus.

Favorite Verse:
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13

Jodi Lewis
Organist and Choir Director

Jodi has been serving Zion Lutheran for 12 years, where she enjoys ministering to others by lifting them up through her gift of music. She also works other jobs, which means she is very busy, but she still finds time to window shop at antiques stores and to go on dinner dates with her husband Lynn. Her kids are Michael and Stephen, and all of her four grandchildren are redheads! Her favorite hymn Pass It On.

Favorite Verse:
“To everything there is a time and a purpose under heaven.” Ecclesiastes 3:1

Marie-Eve Préaux
Communication & Sunday School

A new face at Zion Lutheran, Marie came to Fairport Harbor at the same time as her husband, Pastor Frederick. A graphic designer by trade, she created a new image for the church and oversees the communications and social media presence of the congregation. Never short of ideas, she is also involved in the Sunday School as superintendent and plans on reinvigorating the Youth Ministry at Zion. Her favorite hymn is O Jesus I Have Promised but also likes contemporary Christian anthem My Lighthouse.

Favorite Verse:
But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved.Ephesians 2:4-5
